The Nari Swasthi project, a joint effort by Bharath Hospital and Institute of Oncology (BHIO) and Automotive Axles, has successfully performed free breast cancer surgeries for 47 women from underprivileged backgrounds. This program was established to cover all surgical treatment costs for economically disadvantaged women diagnosed with breast cancer.
Dr. YS Madhavi, chief radiation oncologist at BHIO, highlighted the critical importance of early detection and complete care, stating the goal extends to guiding patients through recovery and counseling. She noted that late diagnosis is a significant factor in breast cancer mortality among women in India.
Dr. Vijaykumar M, who conducted the surgeries, emphasized the profound emotional and social benefits of the initiative. He remarked that it is rewarding to witness patients regain hope and strength, underscoring that emotional support and follow-up are as vital as surgery itself. Some beneficiaries, even without BPL cards, accessed this life-changing treatment.
Representing Automotive Axles, Nagaraja Gargeshwari expressed pride in contributing resources for this community welfare program, aiming to create a meaningful impact. COO Gowtham Dhamerla was also present. Patients like Sangeetha R and Radha M shared their gratitude, expressing newfound hope and appreciation for the dignity and care received.
