Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) is set to organize assessment camps for differently-abled individuals in Virudhunagar district from January 5 to January 9, 2026. These camps are designed to identify eligible persons who will receive specialized assistive devices. The initiative is being coordinated by the District Differently Abled Welfare office.
The assessment schedule includes specific dates for different panchayat union offices. Arrupukottai will host a camp on January 5, followed by Srivilliputtur on January 6, Virudhunagar on January 7, Sivakasi on January 8, and Rajapalayam on January 9. This outreach aims to ensure broad accessibility across the district.
Various assistive technologies will be assessed. Individuals with low vision or blindness are eligible for smartphones, while those with locomotor disabilities can receive motorized tricycles and wheelchairs. Furthermore, people experiencing hearing impairment will be evaluated for digital hearing aids. The Collector urges all needy individuals to participate and avail these essential benefits.
