A village pub in Llangynwyd, near Maesteg, has been linked to a food poisoning incident affecting 43 customers. The patrons consumed Sunday lunch at the Corner House Inn on 30 November and subsequently reported falling ill. Symptoms included stomach cramps and diarrhoea, consistent with foodborne illness.
Public Health Wales confirmed on Wednesday that Clostridium perfringens was identified as the causative agent. This bacterium is a common cause of food poisoning, often associated with improperly cooled food that has been prepared in advance.
Following the alert on 1 December, staff at the Corner House Inn stated they had collaborated with environmental health inspectors. The premises reportedly underwent a deep clean. The pub declined further comment on the matter.
