Faversham Cottage Hospital Ward Reopens After 4-Month Closure

On November 15th, 2025, it was announced that the inpatient ward at Faversham Cottage Hospital, which had been closed since the end of July, is scheduled to reopen on December 2nd. The ward was shuttered in late July "due to critically low staffing, caused by vacancies and sickness," according to the NHS Kent Community Health Foundation Trust.
However, the trust's chief executive, Mairead McCormick, stated that their recent hospital recruitment campaign has been successful. With "significant efforts made to onboard and induct our new recruits for Faversham," the trust is now confident they can safely staff the ward. During the four-month closure, scheduled maintenance work was also completed at the facility.
McCormick added that the hospital staff "have worked with our teams in other hospitals and have provided them with excellent support" while the ward was temporarily closed. She expressed gratitude to the Faversham community for their patience and understanding during this period.
