- Inspections did not find illegal sales of narcotic or habit-forming drugs.

Five medical stores in Faridabad were found to be operating without registered pharmacists, a significant violation of drug sale regulations. An inspection team, comprising officials from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), conducted a special drive on October 17. Although no illegal sales of narcotic or habit-forming medicines were detected during the inspection, the absence of qualified personnel at these five establishments is a major concern.
The joint team inspected eight medical stores across various locations in Faridabad. The violations recorded were related to Rule 65 of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. Consequently, show-cause notices will be issued to the concerned retailers by the competent licensing authority under Rule 66. Further actions, potentially including the suspension of drug sale licenses, will be determined based on the detailed inspection findings and the responses provided by the stores.
The inspections specifically focused on verifying whether restricted medicines were sold against valid prescriptions and if mandatory purchase and sale records were meticulously maintained. The Haryana FDA has directed all medicine retailers to strictly adhere to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and its associated rules. Compliance regarding registered pharmacists and proper record-keeping is paramount. These inspection drives are set to continue to curb illegal drug trade and safeguard public health.
