Construction has commenced on a multi-storey car park, marking a significant step in the A$630m Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment in Sydney. This new structure, situated at the hospital's southern end, will provide over 450 parking spaces and pedestrian access to both Fairfield and Braeside Hospitals.
The car park is designed with sustainability in mind, featuring planned rooftop solar panels. Hindmarsh Construction is undertaking the project following necessary approvals. Expanded on-ground parking is already operational to mitigate disruptions during the construction phase, which is expected to continue through 2026 with a projected completion in 2027.
This car park is part of a broader redevelopment, which includes a five-storey clinical services building. Future plans envision enhanced services such as an expanded Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and updated medical imaging facilities. The NSW government is investing A$3.8bn in western Sydney hospitals over four years, with A$550m allocated for this specific redevelopment, supplemented by A$80m in Commonwealth funding.
