In September 2025, Eric Dane, the 52-year-old Euphoria star, is facing a devastating diagnosis of ALS. His wife, Rebecca Gayheart, has opened up about the family's heartbreak, saying they are "taking it day by day" and working with professional therapists to cope with the situation.
Gayheart, 54, who married Dane in 2004, revealed that their two daughters, Billie (15) and Georgia (13), are "really suffering" from the news. The couple had previously filed for divorce in 2018 but later called off the split. Gayheart expressed that while they are now closer, it is not something they wanted, as ALS is a "horrible disease" for which she hopes a cure will be found soon.
Dane, who exclusively revealed his ALS diagnosis to PEOPLE in April 2025, has since partnered with the nonprofit organization I AM ALS. In a video, he stated, "For over a century, ALS has been incurable, and we're done accepting the status quo. We need the fastest path to a cure, and that's why I partnered with I Am ALS on the Push for Progress." Dane's goal is to renew the landmark Act for ALS law, provide promising treatments to patients, and ultimately push towards ending the disease.
Gayheart, a philanthropist like her husband, has also been supporting the Step Up organization, which provides national mentorship for women of all backgrounds. She believes it is crucial for young women to have a supportive community to help them achieve their dreams, something she didn't have when she was starting out.
