Health leaders in Essex are actively seeking a new operator for The Hollies surgery, which has been vacant since its closure on October 31 last year. This closure left around 12,800 patients without primary care services. The Care Quality Commission had previously issued an urgent suspension against the resident GP, Dr Olusegun Olatokunbo Omosini, citing concerns over safe medicine management and governance.
Discussions are ongoing with the building's landlord, who is reportedly working collaboratively with the NHS Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS). This cooperation is crucial as legal proceedings between the landlord and the surgery's tenant concluded in December, with the tenant mandated to vacate the premises by mid-March. The ICS aims to expedite this transition to restore services at the Hollies.
Since the closure, an interim leadership team has managed the situation, and patients have been offered alternative appointment methods, including remote options. An ICS spokesman assured stakeholders of their commitment to safely reopening the Hollies building and resuming services as quickly as possible.
