This diagnostic delay has increased since 2020, worsening access to crucial treatment. Endometriosis, a condition where uterine-like cells grow outside the womb, causes inflammation, pain, and scarring, significantly impacting education, careers, and relationships.

Common symptoms include debilitating pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, and fatigue, yet many diagnosed patients report their experiences being ignored. To combat this, the NHS is introducing NHS Online, a digital service designed to offer expert care directly from patients' homes. This initiative aims to provide more accessible support and streamline the process for those affected by the condition.
