Watermelon Tumor Survivor: My Cancer Journey

A young nurse's life changed dramatically upon discovering an eight-pound tumor, later identified as stage 3A endometrial adenocarcinoma. Initially dismissed as fatigue, persistent symptoms led to an ER visit where a watermelon-sized growth was found. The tumor's removal at age 28 was followed by a total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, plunging her into immediate surgical menopause.

Despite the challenges, including hot flashes and insomnia, she found strength in sharing her experience. Her online videos documenting chemotherapy, radiation, and daily life resonated with many, fostering an online community. After completing treatment, her scan showed no evidence of disease, marking the end of her active treatment phase.

Navigating life after cancer presented new hurdles, as she grappled with a changed identity. Now, she advocates for self-advocacy in healthcare, encouraging others to trust their instincts and speak up about symptoms.
