Emma Heming Willis has announced the launch of the Emma & Bruce Willis Fund for Dementia Research and Care, furthering her advocacy for dementia patients. This new charity, established with the Entertainment Industry Foundation, seeks to confront frontotemporal dementia (FTD) by raising awareness, funding research, and supporting caregivers.
Speaking at a benefit in New York City, Heming Willis accepted an award on behalf of herself and her husband, Bruce Willis. She shared her experiences over the past four years as his primary caregiver, highlighting the profound realities faced by families dealing with FTD. She expressed her hope that the fund will help families feel seen and supported.
Willis's family announced his FTD diagnosis in 2023, a year after he stepped away from acting due to aphasia. Heming Willis has been open about his condition, noting in October 2025 that he is "doing OK, with a really unkind disease." She previously explained that it is a "blessing and a curse" that Willis does not realize his health is declining due to the nature of FTD, emphasizing that he does know his loved ones.
In August 2025, Heming Willis faced criticism for moving Willis from their family home due to his condition. Responding at a November 2025 conference, she stated, "F*** em! As Bruce would say," and spoke emotionally about making "impossible decisions" for her family's safety and well-being, acknowledging the judgment she anticipated.
