Millions of Eggs Pulled Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination

Health officials are alerting residents to a voluntary recall impacting almost 1.6 million dozen eggs from Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. This recall is due to possible Salmonella Enteritidis contamination, as reported by the FDA.

Salmonella infections can lead to severe health issues, especially for young children, older adults, and individuals with compromised immune systems. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain.

The recalled eggs, including white and brown varieties, were produced and distributed from Texas farms between June 6 and July 3. They have sell-by or best-by dates ranging from July 20 to August 17. These eggs were shipped to customers in Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana.

Consumers may have purchased these potentially contaminated eggs from various retailers, including some Kroger stores, Brookshire Grocery stores, and other smaller outlets. The Port Arthur Health Department and the Texas Department of State Health Services are involved in the notification process.
