E. coli Outbreak Linked to Raw Milk Cheese Recall
3 Apr
Summary
- Nine people were sickened with E. coli from raw milk cheddar cheese.
- RAW FARM cheese products have been recalled after FDA investigation.
- One individual developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a severe complication.

A voluntary recall of raw milk cheddar cheese products from RAW FARM has been initiated after an E. coli outbreak sickened nine individuals. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) investigated the link between the company's products and the illnesses earlier this year, a process during which the company initially resisted a recall.
The E. coli infections caused severe symptoms, including stomach cramps, diarrhea, and fever. In one serious case, an individual developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a type of kidney failure associated with E. coli. Eight of the nine affected individuals reported consuming RAW FARM raw milk products, with seven specifically recalling eating cheese from the brand.
RAW FARM stated the recall is being performed "under protest," and the ongoing FDA investigation has not yet identified any RAW FARM cheddar cheese that tested positive for E. coli. The company has provided contact information for consumers with questions or concerns regarding the recalled products.
