Violinist Trades Strings for Stethoscopes

Ghadir Saleh, a 20-year-old Druze paramedic, has become a notable figure within Magen David Adom (MDA). Her path to emergency medicine began after a career-altering accident at age 16 and a doctor's advice to reduce strain on her hands, which impacted her pursuit of violin.

Initially an accomplished violinist who represented Israel internationally and taught music to at-risk youth, Saleh's perspective shifted significantly after her accident. The lack of immediate medical knowledge among bystanders during her injury underscored the critical importance of emergency response training.

This realization propelled her to complete MDA's intensive paramedic program, a demanding yet rewarding experience that fostered her professional and personal growth. She now serves on mobile intensive care units throughout Israel, receiving strong support from her family and the Druze community.

Saleh emphasizes her commitment to helping people, transcending religious differences. While still playing the violin, she finds her greatest sense of purpose and fulfillment in saving lives and serving her country as a paramedic.
