An assistant drug controller, Omkareshwar, working with the Food Safety and Drug Administration in Chamarajpet, was suspended on Monday by the Department of Health and Family Welfare. This action was taken due to his alleged failure to inspect counterfeit drugs and take appropriate measures against the distributor at Krupa Healthcare, located at Minerva Circle.
The Special Investigation Team, in collaboration with the Food Safety and Drug Administration department, recently apprehended Veeresh Jain, the owner of Krupa Healthcare. Jain is accused of supplying a range of counterfeit medicines, including cancer drugs, essential life-saving medications, and ICU injections.
Investigations indicate that Jain distributed these fake pharmaceuticals to over 90 hospitals and clinics throughout Bengaluru. He reportedly offered these counterfeit products at a substantial discount of 50%, exacerbating the potential harm to unsuspecting patients and healthcare providers.
