Dr. Richard Wedge has assumed the role of chair for Health P.E.I.'s board of directors. This board, comprising 10 members, is tasked with governing the provincial health authority's financial operations, ensuring the quality and safety of patient care, and providing oversight for the Chief Executive Officer. The board reports directly to the province's minister of health and wellness.
Wedge, a family physician, brings a wealth of leadership experience to his new position. His past roles include serving as CEO of Health P.E.I. from 2012 to 2016, interim chief medical officer, vice-chair of the board, and president of the Medical Society of P.E.I. He also held board positions with national health organizations.
He succeeds Diane Griffin, who had been the board's chair since January 2023.
