Dr. Lall's career, spanning over five decades at Christian Hospital, was characterized by her commitment to providing millions with affordable, high-quality eye treatment, especially the underprivileged. Born in India in 1932, she came to Pakistan after her marriage in 1957. She achieved numerous firsts, including becoming Pakistan's first woman specialist in ophthalmology in 1964 and the first to perform intraocular implant surgery in 1976.
Internationally recognized, Dr. Lall received a Fellowship from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 1980 and was nominated as an international member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 1987. Her selfless service garnered prestigious awards, including the Paul Harrison Award and the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz in 2002. Her funeral rites are scheduled for Tuesday, with her interment beside her husband on the hospital grounds.
