Dr. Pimple Popper Suffers Stroke While Filming

Dr. Sandra Lee, the 55-year-old dermatologist famous as Dr. Pimple Popper, experienced a significant health scare on November 20, 2026. While filming her television show, she began to feel unwell, initially mistaking symptoms for a hot flash. These sensations quickly escalated over the following day and night, manifesting as shooting pains in her leg and difficulty walking.

The situation became more critical when Lee found she could not hold her arm up and struggled with articulation. Concerned, she sought medical attention, and an MRI confirmed she had suffered an ischemic stroke. This type of stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is blocked, depriving brain cells of oxygen.

Following the stroke, Lee underwent a two-month recovery period that included intensive physical and occupational therapy. As a surgeon, she was particularly concerned about regaining full control of her hands and grip strength. She attributes the stroke to uncontrolled blood pressure and cholesterol, combined with significant life stress.

Lee's current recovery regimen involves taking blood thinners and continuing with at-home physical therapy. She views the experience as a wake-up call to prioritize her own health. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that stroke symptoms can include sudden numbness or weakness, confusion, speech difficulties, vision problems, loss of balance, and severe headaches, with treatments most effective within three hours of symptom onset.
