This bacteria can cause illness in both animals and people.
Salmonella infection symptoms in humans can range from nausea and vomiting to fever and severe diarrhea. Pets may exhibit lethargy, vomiting, or abdominal pain if they consume the contaminated treats. Even seemingly healthy pets can carry and spread the bacteria, posing a risk to other animals and humans.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) discovered the Salmonella during routine testing. The company has ceased production and distribution of the affected products. Consumers who purchased these treats are instructed to stop use immediately and return them to the store for a full refund.
