Dengue Drive Intensifies Ahead of Monsoon Rains
16 May
Summary
- Over 300 health teams surveyed thousands of homes for larvae.
- Residents urged to clean water containers weekly to stop breeding.
- District observes 'Dry Day' every Friday to combat mosquitoes.

With the monsoon season approaching, the district health department has significantly ramped up its anti-larvae and awareness campaign. This initiative, under the 'Har Shukkarvaar Dengue Te Vaar' program, involves extensive inspections in both urban and rural areas.
During a recent drive, 303 health teams visited 312 areas, surveying 8,812 houses and inspecting 19,993 potential breeding sites like coolers, tires, and tanks. This intensified effort follows directives to strengthen surveillance and enforcement measures against dengue.
Health officials emphasize that public participation is crucial for controlling dengue. Residents are advised to regularly clean water storage containers, flower pots, and other areas where water might accumulate to break the mosquito breeding cycle. Early symptoms of dengue, such as high fever and body aches, should prompt immediate medical attention at free testing and treatment facilities.
Despite no dengue cases reported after February this year, preventive measures are prioritized to avoid a surge during the rainy season. All government departments are mandated to observe Fridays as 'Dry Day' to ensure stagnant water is removed and mosquito control is strengthened across the district.
