28 Jun
Summary
- Officials urged to intensify preventive measures against dengue, malaria, and viral fevers.
- Surveillance systems to be strengthened to identify fever cases early.
- Health workers to conduct active surveillance in villages and urban wards.

As of June 28, 2026, Health Minister Y. Satya Kumar Yadav has mandated intensified efforts to control seasonal diseases. During a video conference with district officials on Sunday, he ordered a crackdown on dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and viral fevers.
District administrations are instructed to bolster surveillance systems, enabling the early detection and prompt treatment of fever cases to avert outbreaks. Field-level health workers must conduct continuous active surveillance in all villages and urban wards, identifying individuals with fever, conducting tests, and providing immediate care.
The Minister also emphasized the need for focused interventions in vulnerable areas, urging accelerated indoor residual spraying, fogging operations, and other mosquito control measures. Special attention is to be given to Tribal Welfare Residential Schools and Social Welfare Hostels.
Furthermore, community awareness campaigns on sanitation and hygiene are to be promoted. Village and ward secretariats, local bodies, and gram panchayats must collaborate to eliminate stagnant water sources, thereby curbing mosquito breeding grounds. The quality of drinking water will also be closely monitored to prevent communicable diseases.
