Delhi has witnessed a dramatic escalation in H1N1 cases, with over 1,777 infections reported as of August 20, significantly exceeding the 229 cases from the same period last year. This represents a six-fold increase, alarming health officials and medical professionals.

Across Delhi-NCR, hospitals are noting a substantial rise in patients with flu-like symptoms. Some facilities have observed a 22-25% increase in consultations over the past week. This surge in cases has refocused attention on the importance of seasonal influenza vaccination, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Doctors emphasize that children, the elderly, pregnant women, and individuals with pre-existing chronic conditions are at higher risk of developing severe influenza complications. Common symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, and body aches. Prompt medical attention is advised for severe symptoms like breathlessness or persistent high fever.
