Woman's cancer ignored for years
28 Jan
Summary
- Delayed diagnosis of cervical cancer after years of dismissed symptoms.
- Tumor size of a tennis ball discovered in June 2022.
- Cancer treatment led to hysterectomy, ending fertility.

A 45-year-old mother of two from Wales experienced years of severe pain and vaginal bleeding, repeatedly seeking medical attention from March 2019. Despite her persistent complaints, she was misdiagnosed with conditions like IBS and endometriosis and advised to do pelvic floor exercises, feeling dismissed by healthcare professionals.
In June 2022, after demanding an MRI, Jessica Mason was diagnosed with cervical cancer. A 6.5-centimeter tumor, described as the size of a tennis ball, was discovered. This delayed diagnosis meant she underwent chemotherapy and radiation, and a subsequent MRI in February 2023 revealed the tumor's persistence, necessitating a hysterectomy.
