25 Aug
Summary
- Dehradun district recorded 49 swine flu cases this month.
- Five patients with underlying health issues died from H1N1.
- Local transmission is suspected as no recent travel was reported.

The Dehradun district is currently facing an increase in swine flu (H1N1) cases, with 49 infections and five deaths recorded this month. The five individuals who succumbed to the virus had underlying health conditions. Health authorities have analyzed these cases and found no recent travel history, strongly suggesting local transmission within the city.
Out of the 49 confirmed H1N1 cases, 34 originate from Dehradun city and 15 from nearby areas. Ten patients are currently receiving hospital treatment. The department of medical health and family welfare (MHFW) has alerted hospitals to adhere to standard operating procedures for patient care and isolation.
While outpatient departments have not yet experienced a surge in patients, health officials emphasize that H1N1 spreads rapidly during monsoon and winter. They are actively monitoring each case and assure that hospitals are equipped for adequate treatment. Vulnerable populations, including children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems, are advised to wear masks in crowded places and practice regular hand hygiene.
