Daughter Saves Father's Life with Liver Transplant

In a remarkable act of love, a 20-year-old engineering student from Amravati has donated a portion of her liver to save her father's life. Anant Moon, 55, had been critically ill with advanced liver cirrhosis for over three years, with his condition deteriorating despite multiple treatments.

Facing dwindling options, his daughter, Anvita Moon, stepped forward as a living donor. A third-year engineering student, she juggled her university exams with the rigorous medical, psychological, and fitness assessments required for organ donation. Anvita bravely underwent her theory exams before the surgery and completed her practicals post-recovery.

The life-saving liver transplant was successfully performed at a private hospital in Nagpur by a multidisciplinary team. Employing robot-assisted technology for the donor surgery ensured a minimally invasive approach and facilitated a faster recovery for Anvita.

Doctors confirmed the transplanted liver segment is functioning well. Anvita was discharged within six days, and her father returned home after thirteen days, both recovering successfully. This event highlights living-donor liver transplantation as a critical option for end-stage liver disease.
