Nearly 18,000 Dairy Products Pulled Due to Faulty Pasteurization
20 Mar
Summary
- Nearly 18,000 cases of cream cheese and sour cream recalled.
- Products sold at Walmart and local stores due to faulty pasteurization.
- Recall issued over fears of contamination with deadly bacteria like E.coli.

Nearly 18,000 cases of cream cheese and sour cream products have been recalled due to concerns over inadequate pasteurization. Wisconsin-based Saputo Cheese USA issued the warning for items sold under Walmart's Great Value brand and Clover Sonoma. The recall affects products with best-before dates up to April 17, 2026.
The issue arose because a pasteurizing machine at the facility had a broken seal, potentially preventing the cheeses from reaching temperatures sufficient to eliminate harmful bacteria like E.coli. While no illnesses have been reported, the FDA reclassified the recall to Class II, indicating a temporary or medically reversible health risk.
The affected products were distributed in 11 states, primarily in the southern and western United States. Consumers are advised to discard the recalled products or return them for a refund. Health authorities should be contacted by individuals experiencing symptoms of infection after consumption.
