COVID Jab Safer Than Infection for Kids' Hearts
21 Nov
Summary
- Children face substantially higher risks of heart inflammation after COVID-19 infection than vaccination.
- Infection increases risks of blood clots and inflammatory diseases significantly more than vaccines.
- Vaccination poses minimal, short-term risks, primarily mild myocarditis, unlike prolonged infection dangers.

Recent research from England, analyzing health records of nearly 14 million individuals under 18, indicates that children and adolescents are significantly more prone to developing heart inflammation, blood clots, and other vascular diseases following COVID-19 infection than after receiving a vaccine. The study, published in The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, highlights that risks of conditions like MIS-C were nearly 15 times higher post-infection.
While infection led to sharply elevated risks across all measured outcomes in the first week, including venous thromboembolism and arterial clotting events, these dangers persisted for months. In contrast, vaccination was linked to only one notable short-term effect: a mild, rapidly declining increase in myocarditis risk within the first month, with no significant elevated risk for blood clots or inflammatory diseases.
The study underscores that the dangers associated with COVID-19 infection far outweigh the minimal, short-term risks of vaccines. These findings offer reassurance to parents and policymakers, supporting continued vaccination efforts to shield children from the more frequent and prolonged complications stemming from SARS-CoV-2 infection.
