Summer COVID Uptick Begins

COVID-19 cases are on the rise in California, Texas, Florida, and several other Western and Southern states, suggesting the virus may be entering its seasonal summer surge. While current emergency room visit levels attributed to COVID remain low, data from wastewater monitoring and increasing test positivity rates in California, such as a rise to 3.4% by July 18, indicate growing activity. In Los Angeles County, the COVID test positivity rate increased to 4.28% in the week ending July 11, up from 1.52% the previous week.
