University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust has stood down a critical incident declared at University Hospital Coventry. The critical level incident was initiated on Thursday due to severe and sustained pressure on services, which had led to significant and unacceptable delays within the Emergency Department.
As of Saturday, the trust reported that pressure had eased, although services continue to experience very high demand. Patients are being advised to utilize NHS 111 online or by phone for non-life-threatening health concerns. The trust extended an apology for any impact caused by the pressures and expressed gratitude to the community for their support and to staff for their outstanding response.
