Tim and Emily Leary, a Louisiana-based couple, have navigated a challenging nearly two-decade marriage marked by multiple cancer diagnoses and rare medical procedures. Their relationship began in 2001, overcoming long-distance and later facing significant health battles together.
Tim was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011, followed by a pancreatic tumor. He underwent extensive chemotherapy, radiation, and a complex Whipple procedure in 2013. He later faced liver abscesses requiring surgical repair in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
In 2021, while Tim was still undergoing treatment, Emily discovered she had a tumor in her pancreas. She too underwent a Whipple procedure for a neuroendocrine tumor and subsequently treated a liver abscess.
Both are now in remission, returning for check-ups at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The Learys, aged 68 and 69, cherish their time with family and look forward to growing old together, having learned to trust their instincts and their love through adversity.
