15 Mar
Summary
- Frozen turkey pockets sold at Costco were mislabeled with ham filling.
- USDA issued a public health alert due to potential pork content.
- The affected products are no longer for sale but may be in freezers.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a public health alert for La Boulangerie Turkey Pesto & Swiss Cheese Pockets sold at Costco. Consumers reported that some boxes labeled as turkey-based products actually contained ham and cheese fillings.
This mislabeling is a concern for individuals with dietary restrictions, including those who avoid pork for religious or medical reasons. The affected products, lot code 04926 with a best by date of February 18, 2027, were distributed to Costco locations in the Midwest.
While no adverse reactions have been reported, the USDA is warning consumers because some packages may still be in freezers. Shaw Bakers LLC, the manufacturer, is handling consumer inquiries. The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) confirmed that a formal recall was not necessary as the products are no longer available for purchase.
