COMET 2026, a significant emergency medicine and trauma conclave, is set to commence on September 11 at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University. This three-day event will convene around 800 medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and paramedics, from India, the UK, Australia, Israel, the UAE, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.
Organized under the theme "Strengthening Systems - Saving Lives," the conclave will feature intensive training sessions. Dr. Subhankar Paul, the organizing secretary, highlighted that SACTEM faculty will lead hands-on training in emergency care. Key workshops on the opening day will include point-of-care ultrasound, neurological emergencies, mechanical ventilation, wilderness medicine, trauma, and disaster readiness.
Beyond practical training, policy sessions will foster collaboration among clinicians, academics, and administrators to devise recommendations for improving emergency and trauma care. A national competition, "Battle of the Bays," will simulate critical medical scenarios for eight teams. The event will also honor outstanding contributions through SACTEM's Excellence Awards 2026.
