The National pulse polio immunisation campaign has commenced in Coimbatore district with a significant target of administering the oral polio vaccine to 2.97 lakh children under the age of five. The campaign was officially launched on Sunday, June 28, 2026, by Minister V. Sampath Kumar at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital (CMCH).

To facilitate the vaccination drive, 1,615 centres have been set up across the district, complemented by 32 special booths at high-traffic areas like bus stands and railway stations. Additionally, 22 mobile teams are supporting the effort. Within Coimbatore City alone, the campaign is being conducted at 337 locations, with a goal to vaccinate approximately 1.41 lakh children.
