Walnut Allergy Alert: Chocolate Bonbons Recalled
26 Apr
Summary
- Bonbon collection recalled due to undeclared walnuts.
- Labeling error misidentified Walnut Fudge as Peach Cobbler.
- Product distributed in 41 states via retail and online.

French Broad Chocolates PBC has issued a recall for multiple lots of its Bette's Bake Sale Bonbon Collection due to undeclared walnuts. This recall addresses a potential health risk for consumers with walnut allergies, as the product may contain hidden walnuts.
The issue stemmed from a labeling error where the tasting notes incorrectly described a Walnut Fudge bonbon as Peach Cobbler. Consumers could mistakenly consume the bonbon, leading to a severe allergic reaction. The affected chocolates were distributed between April 14 and April 20, 2026, sold in Asheville, North Carolina stores and online nationwide.
Several batch numbers and best-by dates are affected for the 6, 12, and 24-piece collections. While no illnesses have been reported, consumers with tree nut allergies are advised to discard the product or seek a refund. Tree nuts are a major allergen in the U.S., with reactions ranging from mild to life-threatening anaphylaxis.
