10 Feb
Summary
- Chinese herbal medicine significantly increases live birth rates.
- Nearly 23% relative increase observed in women aged 35+.
- Research published in top journal Nature Communications.

A significant advancement in reproductive medicine has emerged from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Zishen Yutai, developed by Guangzhou Baiyunshanzhongyi Pharmaceutical, has demonstrated a notable capacity to enhance live birth rates among women aged 35 and older undergoing fresh embryo transfers.
The clinical research, published in January in the prestigious journal Nature Communications, revealed a relative increase of nearly 23 percent in live births for this demographic. This marks a landmark occasion, as it's the first time the journal has featured clinical research on TCM's application in reproductive health.
The study, a randomized clinical trial involving 1,467 women across 12 tertiary hospitals in China, also reported improvements in pregnancy test rates, implantation rates, and clinical pregnancy rates. Researchers believe this validates TCM and promotes its broader international recognition, offering renewed hope for older couples struggling with fertility.
