- Pricing ensures fair competition and patient access to advanced therapies.

The National Healthcare Security Administration has established pricing guidelines for approximately 180 new medical technologies and services, focusing on areas such as elderly care, pediatric needs, and emerging medical innovations. These national standards are designed to create unified naming, definitions, and pricing frameworks for public hospitals, with local governments to set specific fee structures.
These guidelines encompass advanced therapies including surgical robots, remote surgery, brain-computer interfaces, and novel cancer treatments like proton radiotherapy. They also cover essential services for childbirth and round-the-clock nonmedical care for inpatients. The administration aims to facilitate clinical application and stabilize market return expectations for innovative enterprises.
Officials noted that the pricing takes into account innovation returns, costs, patient access, and practical experiences. For instance, brain-computer interface implantation is priced around 7,000 yuan, and noninvasive procedures at 1,000 yuan. This clarity is intended to encourage R&D investment, attract investors, and provide hospitals with a basis for charging, thereby stimulating the entire industry chain.
Furthermore, guidelines for elderly care services, such as "companion-free" nonmedical assistance, are priced between 100 to 180 yuan per day, significantly lower than private caregiver rates. This initiative seeks to alleviate financial burdens on families and attract more talent to the nursing industry. The administration is also exploring advance pricing for medical services during the clinical trial stage to expedite adoption of new therapies.
