11 May
Summary
- Early breast cancer detection rate reached 58% in China.
- Five-year survival rate for breast cancer is now 83%.
- China's improved practices are now part of global guidelines.

Over the past five years, China has achieved a notable increase in its breast cancer detection and survival rates. The early-stage detection rate for women has risen to 58 percent, and the five-year survival rate has reached 83 percent. These improvements are a direct result of a comprehensive nationwide strategy emphasizing grassroots screening, early diagnosis, and prompt treatment.
Practices developed in China have been incorporated into the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer. These guidelines are now being shared globally. The progress was highlighted during the 23rd World Congress on Breast Cancer and Breast Healthcare, held recently in Tianjin.
The congress itself brought together over 1,000 international experts, fostering exchange on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and care. Carole Mathelin, president of the Senologic International Society, acknowledged breast cancer as a major global public health challenge and expressed anticipation for deeper cooperation with China.
