Sanitary toilet coverage in rural China has now reached approximately 77 percent, marking a two-percentage-point increase over the past year. Concurrently, the rate of tap water coverage has risen to 96 percent.
These advancements are partly attributed to China's ongoing patriotic health campaign. This initiative has focused on addressing environmental health issues, eliminating pest breeding grounds, and fostering inter-departmental cooperation to improve living conditions.
Targeted campaigns were also implemented last year to control infectious diseases like chikungunya and dengue fever. Efforts to prevent and treat chronic diseases, including early cancer screenings, have also been intensified.
As a result of these comprehensive health initiatives, the average life expectancy in China reached 79.25 years in 2025. Additionally, the health literacy rate among Chinese residents saw an increase, climbing to 33.69 percent last year.
