- The allergic reaction occurred after a holiday trip to Egypt.
- Parents are warned to check black henna ingredients due to PPD.

A young boy's holiday souvenir turned into a permanent reminder after he developed a dragon-shaped scar from a black henna tattoo. Mason Abrams, aged five, received the design on his arm during a family trip to Sharm El-Sheikh in December of last year. Initially, the tattoo caused no irritation, and the family enjoyed their vacation.
However, approximately ten days after the design had faded, his mother, Kirsty Campbell Russell, noticed a red, raised imprint of the dragon on Mason's arm. A subsequent GP consultation confirmed it was an allergic reaction to the dye used, believed to be black henna which often contains P-Phenylenediamine (PPD).
This chemical can lead to severe reactions including blistering, burns, and scarring. Kirsty is now warning others about the potential dangers of black henna, emphasizing the importance of checking ingredients before opting for such temporary body art. She fears her son will be scarred for life.
