A remarkable six-year-old girl, Pearl, has been recognized for her quick thinking and bravery after saving her mother's life. While at home in Croydon last summer, Pearl's mother, Carole, suffered a seizure and lost consciousness. Pearl, remembering the emergency number, called 999 and calmly relayed her mother's symptoms and their address to the call handler, despite being "really, really scared."
Paramedics arrived within minutes, finding Pearl and her four-year-old sister, Amelia, to be "incredible" and remarkably composed. The sisters assisted the paramedics, even helping to gather items for hospital. Carole was treated for a life-threatening bleed on her brain and has since recovered well. Both Pearl and Amelia were presented with commendation certificates by the London Ambulance Service for their life-saving actions.
