Mental Health Wards See Major Improvement
19 Aug
Summary
- Child and adolescent mental health wards received a "good" rating.
- Inspectors found necessary improvements were made since last review.
- One breach of regulation remains for safe care and treatment.
Child and adolescent mental health wards at Cheadle Royal Hospital in Greater Manchester have been rated "good" by health inspectors, marking a significant improvement. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) upgraded its assessment following an inspection in April.
The hospital, operated by Affinity Healthcare Limited, provides inpatient mental health services for young people aged 11-17. Inspectors found that necessary improvements had been implemented since the previous inspection, although one breach of regulation concerning safe care and treatment persisted.
Previously, inspectors had identified five breaches of regulation. The latest review found the service's responsiveness and leadership were now rated "good," while effectiveness and care were consistently rated as such. The CQC has requested an action plan from Affinity Healthcare Limited regarding the identified concerns.
