26 Nov
Summary
- School closed for two days due to high levels of flu-like cases.
- UK Health Security Agency consulted for infection control advice.
- Remote learning implemented for students if they are well.

Congleton High School has temporarily closed its doors to facilitate a two-day deep clean due to a surge in pupil sickness. The Cheshire-based school informed parents and staff about the closure, which began on Wednesday, after experiencing a number of flu-like cases.
In response to the outbreak, the school has liaised with the UK Health Security Agency and infection control experts. Vulnerable or immunosuppressed individuals are advised to seek health advice, as they may have been exposed to influenza or other respiratory infections.
While the building undergoes cleaning, students are expected to engage in remote learning if they are well enough. The school plans to update parents on Thursday regarding the potential reopening on Friday.
