The 2nd Annual Congress WOC India - Chennai Sports Injury Conclave 2026 convened in Chennai, bringing together more than 250 orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, and healthcare professionals. This academic conference, held on a Sunday, focused on the latest advancements in sports injury management.
Organizing Chairman Navaladi Shankar of Apollo Hospitals stressed the growing importance of injury prevention and management. He noted that many injuries stem from inadequate training, improper techniques, and overuse, particularly as fitness activities gain popularity.
The conclave featured a scientific program with 35 national and international faculty members. They shared insights through sessions, panel discussions, and workshops, covering current trends in sports medicine.
Arindam Banerjee, president of WOC International and WOC India, emphasized WOC's role in bridging healthcare resource gaps globally. He expressed pride in India's transition from a recipient to a contributor of orthopaedic expertise.
Looking ahead, WOC India plans to extend its focus to injuries sustained in indigenous sports such as kabaddi and kalaripayattu, ensuring comprehensive care across diverse athletic activities.
