Chennai Battles Mosquitoes: 4,000+ Breeding Spots Found!

Chennai is conducting extensive field inspections to combat mosquito breeding and prevent fever outbreaks. Between September 14 and 19, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) inspected 1,102,385 houses, identifying and eliminating mosquito breeding sources in 4,192 locations.
Fever surveillance has been significantly enhanced across the city. Persons treated for fever are being monitored for three days post-discharge. These preventative efforts are complemented by widespread fogging operations and larval control measures.
The GCC has deployed a considerable workforce, including health officers, entomologists, sanitary inspectors, and field workers, across its 15 zones. These teams conduct daily door-to-door checks in residential and commercial areas, identifying and removing breeding sources like discarded tires and containers.
Training programs on dengue and fever management have been provided to medical personnel at various urban health centers and hospitals. Essential medicines for fever treatment are readily available at all medical facilities throughout the city.
