27 Nov
Summary
- Over 100 residents trained in emergency bleed kit use.
- Training sessions were free, funded by the police commissioner.
- Charity Owen's World partnered to deliver critical life-saving skills.

In Cannock Chase, over 125 residents have been trained in the crucial use of emergency bleed kits during six recently concluded free sessions. These sessions were made possible through funding from the office of the police, fire, and crime commissioner, underscoring a commitment to community safety. The training was a collaborative effort between Cannock Chase District Council and Owen's World, a charity established after a tragic fatal stabbing incident in 2022.
The initiative aims to empower local individuals with immediate life-saving skills, enabling them to provide critical assistance while awaiting professional medical help. NHS-trained paramedic Ashley-Jordon Parker-Trigg led the training, ensuring participants learned to use the bleed kits correctly and safely. This program builds upon the council's prior action of installing six additional bleed kit cabinets throughout the district earlier this year.
Councillor David Williams highlighted the importance of equipping the community with life-saving knowledge, stating that the training empowers residents to act confidently in emergencies. Deputy Staffordshire commissioner Dave Evans also praised the use of the commissioner's community safety fund for providing free education on using these essential kits. This proactive approach seeks to enhance public safety across Cannock Chase.
