Harshada Prakash Temghare, after battling lymphoma, discovered a profound calling to serve others through food. Her journey began with a personal overhaul of diet and lifestyle, leading her to embrace organic farming principles and traditional cooking methods. This transformation inspired her to establish a community kitchen in Pune.
The kitchen, which emphasizes the use of copper, brass, and clay vessels, along with wood-pressed oils and ghee from indigenous cows, has grown into a significant enterprise. It now provides employment for about 20 women from a local self-help group and delivers over 1,000 organic meals daily. The service expanded its reach during the COVID-19 pandemic, supplying meals to approximately 800 patients.
Temghare's commitment to organic and millet-based food, served since 2019, has garnered national recognition, including an invitation from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. She has also taken up farming on her own land, earning a Mahila Shetkari certificate and being felicitated for her contributions.
