Cancer Survivor's 'Miracle' Second Baby Defies Odds
20 Aug
Summary
- Woman diagnosed with ovarian cancer while pregnant with first child.
- Told chemotherapy would make her infertile, then conceived again.
- Now over two years cancer-free, celebrating second 'miracle' baby.

Shannon Maya Lamb, 31, has welcomed her second child, a baby girl, defying medical predictions that she would be infertile. Lamb was diagnosed with aggressive ovarian cancer in October 2020, during her first pregnancy. She underwent surgery, but the cancer spread to her lung.
At 31 weeks pregnant, Lamb received emergency chemotherapy and delivered her son, Hunter, prematurely. This was followed by 11 more rounds of chemotherapy and two stem cell transplants. In October 2024, she achieved remission, but was told fertility recovery was highly unlikely.
Against all odds, in November 2025, Lamb discovered she was pregnant again. She recently gave birth to Zayla, a healthy baby girl. Lamb, now over two years cancer-free, considers both her children miracles and hopes her story offers hope to others.
