Teen's Leukemia Battle Saved by Blood Donations

Teenager Hannah Poole, diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age three, has fully recovered after a courageous battle with the disease that twice required life-saving blood and platelet transfusions. Her father, Adam, inspired by his daughter's struggle, has become a dedicated platelet donor, making over 230 donations and emphasizing the profound impact these contributions have.

Adam Poole's commitment stems from witnessing Hannah's numerous transfusions, stating that without these donations, her treatment and survival would not have been possible. He encourages others to donate, describing it as a crucial way to help when feeling otherwise helpless as a parent.

The Welsh Blood Service reports a significant need, requiring 350 donations daily to supply 19 hospitals. Blood and especially platelets, vital for cancer patients and lasting only seven days, necessitate a constant supply. During winter, over 21,000 donations are needed, with illnesses and weather often hindering donations.
