Woman's cancer ordeal: Delayed MRI and lost faith

Jessica began a demanding five-week course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy in August 2022. This treatment regimen took a significant toll on her 13-year-old son and personally affected Jessica, pushing her into early menopause and forcing her to abandon plans for another child.

She reported difficulty with daily tasks and expressed a belief that her MRI referral was delayed. A follow-up MRI in February 2023 confirmed the tumor remained, leading to a hysterectomy in July 2023. This prolonged ordeal caused Jessica to lose faith in medical professionals, frequently questioning their decisions.

Previously working full-time, Jessica can now only manage three days a week due to the physical and mental exhaustion from her ongoing health battle. She described the situation as "never-ending," experiencing occasional bleeding and awaiting further biopsies, constantly worried about potential misdiagnosis.

Jessica has accused Cardiff and Vale University Health Board of delaying the sharing of her medical records as she contemplates legal action. She highlighted a broader issue where women's health concerns are often dismissed or not recognized quickly enough by healthcare providers.
