Cancer Checks Hidden on Shower Gels
12 May
Summary
- Cancer awareness messages now appear on nine Morrisons own-brand bath and shower gels.
- Advice urges customers to check for lumps, skin changes, and unexplained bruising.
- The NHS seeks to turn routine washing into a simple health check reminder.

A unique collaboration between Morrisons and the NHS is now featuring cancer awareness advice on nine of the supermarket's own-brand bath and shower gels. These bottles carry direct messages such as "Be body aware" and "Know the signs of cancer," urging consumers to look out for key indicators like lumps, swelling, or unusual skin changes.
This initiative, rolling out across approximately 450 Morrisons stores and online during May 2026, aims to integrate health checks into daily routines. Professor Peter Johnson of NHS England emphasized that noticing any abnormality while bathing should prompt a call to a GP, stressing that early detection significantly improves outcomes, even though most findings are not cancerous.
The NHS has expressed openness to extending this campaign to other supermarket chains. A previous successful collaboration between Morrisons and the NHS included breast and testicular cancer advice on the supermarket's Nutmeg branded underwear. This new campaign builds on that success, leveraging everyday products to disseminate vital health information and encourage prompt medical consultation.
